Dynamic HTML online tutorials - the early days.

It's early days yet for online DHTML resources, but some have already emerged, led by Microsoft (and to be fair to the Seattle Beasties, their DHTML section really is the business).

Microsoft SiteBuilder. Comprehensive, if a bit impenetrable at times (i.e. written in Microsoftie-speak). Goes on about Cascading Style Sheets a bit too much (like most DHTML tutorials), and a bit light on practical examples, although getting better by the week as Microsoft tidies up the pre-launch material. Don't believe what it says about accessing objects by indexing collections - just give 'em names and use those, like any sane programmer would. Despite all that, this is the guvnor of current online DHTML material.

Microsoft Internet Client SDK download. Reading all those tutorial pages online can be a very expensive business - much cheaper to download it once (about 40 minutes) then browse it from disk at your leisure. The SDK is modular, so you can just get the bits you want, starting with the Dynamic HMTL tutorial. Note - if you got a copy of the SDK on an early IE 4.0 CD-ROM, it may be worth checking this site, since the contents have improved in the last few weeks.

Dynamic HTML Index. Good jumplist site to tutorials, workshops and articles about DHTML, including Microsoft's and NetScape's. Updated regularly, so a good way to to keep in touch with developments.

ProjectCool Developer Zone. Good third-party site with sections on basic HTML and other topics as well. Contains excellent, example-led '5 minute' tutorial sections (take note, Microsoft), and promises to be expanding its DHTML coverage over the coming weeks.
